Made-to-measure clothing for men: a suit that suits you
A made-to-measure suit is more than a suit in the right size. Its cut, fabric, proportions and finishing details work together to shape how it looks and how you feel wearing it. You might be looking for a smart tailored suit for work, a made-to-measure wedding suit or a versatile suit for dinners and special occasions. At Artson Fashion, the conversation starts with your wishes, not a single prescribed look that everyone should wear.
Made-to-measure clothing gives you the opportunity to choose your look more thoughtfully. A subtle colour and understated finishing details create a different effect from a striking lining or a matching waistcoat. We help you bring these choices together into a coherent outfit, considering both what you like and how you will actually use your suit.
Artson Tailors since 1937: tailoring knowledge in its third generation
In 1937, Martine's grandfather, the father of Jef Aertgeerts, opened a tailoring business in Haacht. He laid the foundations for the family business that is Artson Fashion today. The attention to careful measuring, proportions and finishing comes from that tailoring history. Artson's story therefore begins not with a collection of brands, but with the craftsmanship of a tailor in Haacht.
His son, the late Jef Aertgeerts, learned tailoring at home from his father. He then deepened that knowledge through years of training and specialisation in Germany, becoming a master tailor. This combination of practical experience within the family and specialist training formed the foundation of his expertise.
Together with his wife, Louisa Vanaudenaerde, Jef grew the tailoring business into the well-known family business ARTSON FASHION, bringing together made-to-measure clothing and ready-to-wear for men and women, with renowned national and international brands. The personal approach and attention to fit remained part of the business as its fashion offering expanded. With respect and gratitude for Jef, his expertise lives on in Artson's made-to-measure work and guidance.
Today, Martine Aertgeerts continues this history in the third generation. She learned the made-to-measure craft from her father Jef and has also built more than 38 years of expertise in the fashion world. As our made-to-measure specialist, she considers how your build, the cut and the look you want work together. After all, a shoulder line, jacket length or the proportions of jacket and trousers cannot be assessed in isolation. That experience and our own workshop provide expert guidance as you choose, try on and, if needed, have your clothing altered.
Putting together your made-to-measure suit: fabric, cut and personal details
When commissioning your suit, you help decide how it will look. Together, we discuss the cut and the proportions of the jacket and trousers. You choose colours, buttons, lining and stitching, and can consider a matching waistcoat. We also discuss shoulder details and finishing. You do not need to know all these choices in advance: we explain the options and help you keep the overall picture in mind.
A two-piece suit can be a versatile foundation; adding a waistcoat gives a three-piece made-to-measure suit a different character. Think about combinations beyond wearing the complete suit, too. A jacket you would like to wear separately calls for different considerations from one you will only wear with its matching trousers.
Which fabric should you choose for a made-to-measure suit?
The right fabric depends on the season, the occasion and how often you want to wear your suit. Look beyond colour and discuss texture, weight and how it feels to wear. As you make your choice, we compare the available fabrics within your budget. The specific composition and options depend on the fabric you choose; we do not attribute one material or one quality label to every made-to-measure suit.
Commissioning your made-to-measure suit: the process at Artson Fashion
- Discussing your wishes. Tell us what you need your suit for, the style you like to wear and the budget you have in mind. For a wedding or another fixed date, we discuss the schedule straight away.
- Choosing fabric and finishing details. With our guidance, you shape the look: from colour and cut to lining, buttons, stitching and an optional waistcoat.
- Measurements and a quote. We take your measurements carefully and prepare a quote based on your chosen fabric and finishing details. You will know the price of your own combination.
- The fitting appointment. Approximately 3–4 weeks after your measurements are taken, you try on your made-to-measure suit. We assess how the jacket and trousers sit and how the suit feels when you move or sit down.
- Expert alterations. If further adjustments are needed, they can be carried out in our own workshop. We discuss the timing of any finishing work at your fitting appointment.
How much does a made-to-measure suit cost? Suits from €495
At Artson Fashion, prices for a made-to-measure suit start from €495. The final price depends on your chosen fabric and finishing details. A personal quote is therefore more useful than one general price for all men's made-to-measure suits. A different fabric or different finishing choices can change the total.
Discuss your budget during the first conversation. We help you compare the options and make the choices that matter to you. The starting price does not mean that every combination costs €495; your personal quote shows the price of your chosen made-to-measure clothing.
A made-to-measure wedding suit or a suit for work
For a wedding suit, the style of the wedding, the season and the colours of the complete outfit are useful starting points. A made-to-measure wedding suit can be understated or include more personal details. A waistcoat, lining or chosen buttons give you room to express your own character. Mention the wedding date when you first contact us, so we can plan the measurement and fitting appointments around it.
For a business suit, the main consideration is how it fits into your working day. Would you like to wear it often, combine it with different shirts or use it for a dinner, too? Discuss this when choosing fabric and colour. A blue made-to-measure suit is one possible foundation, but the best choice depends on your wardrobe and preferences. We also advise on coordinating shirts, ties, bow ties, overcoats, shoes, socks and belts.
Our own alterations workshop for a smart fit
Accurate measurements matter, but the fitting appointment remains an essential part of the made-to-measure process. This is where we assess the fit of the actual garment. We look at the jacket's proportions, the trouser length and how the clothing fits without unnecessarily restricting your movement. Martine's knowledge of the craft helps us examine these details with care and purpose.
Artson Fashion has its own workshop where alterations can be carried out expertly. If your made-to-measure suit needs further adjustments, we discuss what is required and how the remaining finishing work will be scheduled. Made-to-measure clothing and alterations are not separate concerns: both contribute to a suit that fits neatly and feels comfortable to wear.
